FREE Calligraphy Workshop


Collaboration between Beeston Civic Society and Hong Kong Notts announces a unique and special course.

The free course, consisting of five sessions in all, involves participants in the craft of ancient oriental script. All under the tutelage of a Master Calligrapher.
Hong Kong Notts organiser, Christy Tang, stated; “This is a marvellous opportunity for Beeston folk to join together and experience another culture, through the Oriental graphic process.”

Led by Calligraphy Master Chi, the first in a series, a taster session, takes place at Beeston’s Royal British Legion (RBL) on Saturday 12 October. This is followed by a further four sessions each Saturday between 9 – 30 November . All sessions start at 11am, and last an hour – with all materials and equipment provided.

Beeston Civic Society trustee, Mervyn Brown, commented “This is a classic example of
cross-cultural collaboration that further embraces our rich multicultural community.” Generously supported by East Midlands Councils, the course provides an opportunity to engage in meaningful cultural exchange.
