A Civic Working Group

Background

There was a huge level of interest created by Alan Simpson’s recent talk to Beeston Civic Society. Several audience members agreed that we need to come together as a group to pool our resources and work towards creating our own local energy generation and distribution.

The Idea

To that end we have set up a Working Group with the aim of taking this idea forward. We have already contacted Green Meadows in Nottingham, Octopus Energy and New Mills Hydro and other specialists.

We also wish to engage with parallel local groups; for instance, Green Umbrella and The Toton & Chetwyn Group who are applying for funding to look at feasibility for their area.

We believe there might be an opportunity for The Rylands, as it has a defined boundary and already has local power generation on the Trent by the weir.

Generating Interest?

We’d like to hear from fellow members who would like to join the Working Group – who share our drive and ambitions for the potential of this idea – especially members who may have specialist knowledge.
