Any scheme which enhances the surroundings, values local character or heritage, and is attractive and distinctive could be nominated for this category.

Projects of all sizes qualify, whether large developments, a single new building, or small project.

Nominated schemes could include:

  • New or improved shop fronts
  • Creating better natural habitats
  • Improved front or back gardens
  • Public art
  • Sympathetic building or renovation in a Conservation Area
  • New building(s), from houses to larger residential or commercial developments
  • Old building restored to use
  • New trees planted, or landscaping
  • Reinstating original building or landscape features

Any scheme which shows water/energy efficiency and resilience; carefully selected materials; sustainable or new construction techniques, and is made to last could be nominated for this category.

Projects of all sizes qualify, whether large developments, a single new build, or small project.

Nominated schemes could include:

  • Restored old buildings
  • Retrofitting energy efficiency measures to existing buildings
  • Low energy buildings, from houses to larger residential or commercial developments
  • Water management
  • A new or improved community garden, allotment or space
  • Any development that minimises biodiversity loss, integrates nature such as urban trees or provides shelter for birds, bats and bees
  • Any development that incorporates sustainable drainage

Schemes which are accessible and easy to move around; have mixed uses, or are safe, social and integrated could be nominated for this category.

Nominated schemes could include:

  • Public space improvements
  • New or improved shop fronts
  • New play areas
  • Public art
  • New parks
  • A new or improved community garden or space
  • Public Transport Improvements
  • New or maintained active travel routes
  • New building(s), from houses to larger residential or commercial developments

A Judging Panel has already viewed schemes to assess properties and projects and judging has begun in earnest.

A winner for each category, and an overall winner will be announced at our Awards gala on 19 November 2025.

This year we are also running a People’s Choice Award, giving entries an extra chance of winning!

All nominees are in with a chance of winning something – with our new People’s Choice Award.
