BE MORE CIVIC
Don’t call us NIMBYs! Our members love where they live: they care about Beeston and want to champion what is good, and protect it from the mediocre. By giving their active support, they get to know what is going on in our town, and influence decision-makers in a positive way.
Not only that, however – they also have a lot of fun, because Beeston Civic Society isn’t just about buildings. It…
- is home to Beeston Street Art and Beeston Light Night;
- runs summer guided walks led by experts;
- hosts speaker events with special guest speakers on a wide range of subjects as diverse as: the science of spider webs, Notts rebels, HS2, Nottingham Castle, high streets, archaeology, The Hive at Kew Gardens, The Beestonian, and modern architecture;
- supports creation and improvement of our local skate park with Skate Nottingham;
- is fiscal host for Beeston Repair Cafe;
- helps fund local public art such as Standing in This Place by Rachel Carter;
- researches local heritage and brilliant Beestonians for Blue Plaques;
- plants trees and create habitat for wildlife;
- saves buildings from demolition; and
- creates interactive FREE events for young people, students, visitors, and the locals.
