Stop Press, we’ve received the following list from John Delaney from the Town Centre Planning Committee. This is the council’s own list. We are hoping to publish further ideas from New Deal public meeting, and what the Continuum group have received from Beeston residents in due course.

In the meantime, we invite everyone (and we mean everyone) to review and comment on this post about the council’s list below. The more feedback, the better to get the best for Beeston post tram.

  1. Replace mock-Victorian benches /bins/ pedestrian signing /bike stands etc, especially in Square area, with stainless steel to match rest of Beeston
  2. Replace lighting in Square and High Road with stainless steel theme to match Broadgate
  3. Re-launch leaflets etc
  4. Social media advertising/press releases
  5. Stainless steel planters
  6. Town centre car park signing (highway)
  7. Town centre wifi (inc 5 years maintenance)
  8. Shop front improvement grants – esp Chilwell Road
  9. Enhanced Christmas decorations
  10. Special events, markets, competitions etc
  11. Heavy duty gum removal
  12. External appraisal of Beeston
  13. Uplighters (flood lights) to Beeston parish church
  14. Interpretation trail with info panels
  15. Multi-language focal point “welcome to ..” in main Beeston languages (eg, Chinese)
  16. Living (green) walls on the pedestrian links to Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s (on their land)
  17. Uplighters, flood lights, for public trees
  18. Feature sculptures of well known “Beestonians”
  19. Remove “Stump” from Square and reinstate hole left behind
  20. Install big screen at The Square
  21. Upgrade bandstand electrical supply and install roof
  22. Replace some grass at Broadgate with artificial grass to facilitate year-round events
  23. Clean (or repair) the Beeston man statue
